Roti John (Egg And Meat Grilled Baguette)

Roti John is basically a baguette sliced in two. Each half partially-submerged into a mixture of eggs, meat and onions and is pan-grilled mixture-laden side down til crispy and served with cucumber and chilli sauce. Some choose to add a layer of cheese between the halves and press them tightly together to melt the cheese before serving.

Ingredients:

1 large baguette sliced into two and halved
2 large eggs
1 onion – diced thinly
1/2kg of ground meat (chicken or beef)
Pepper to taste (black / white / ground)
Salt to taste
Oil for grilling

Instructions:

Wash the meat til clean and no blood runs through. Stir fry the meat in a non-stick pan. Do not add in any oil. Add in some ground white and black pepper to taste. Remove from pan and set aside.
In a mixing bowl, crack eggs and beat well. Add in chopped onion, a pinch of salt and a pinch of coarse ground pepper.
Pour in the cooked ground meat and mix well.
Take one portion of the baguette and spoon the mixture over the sliced side of the bread. Make sure you cover the bread.
Add a tablespoon of oil into the pan over medium heat. Press the baguette mixture side down quickly into the pan, over the oil and press down with a spatula. The egg mixture should sizzle and ’sputter’. Continue pressing down evenly. Once the mixture has browned, turn the baguette over and press into the oil. This makes the crust crispy.
Once you get your desired crisp, remove from pan and set aside. Repeat step 4 an 5 for the rest of the baguette.
If you would like to add in cheese, add a layer of cheese on one half of the grilled baguette. Place the top half over the cheese and press together tightly, letting the cheese melt.
To serve, cut the baguette into strips, and serve with cucumber and chilli sauce.

Not for me but for the best friend. She is getting married in 10 days' time! Fast isn't it? She is going to be Mrs soon. Hehe!! I'll be her Maid of Honor cum driver on that day. Big responsibility for me. But since I've done it before, I know what to expect. I pray for her success reception on 12 & 13 December 2009.

Alhamdulillah, he managed to go through the interview & now being called for 2nd interview tmrw @ 10am. I'm praying hard for him to be able to go through it & get the job. Even though this is not something that he is really interested in but looking at the economic now, we can't afford to be choosy. We have to grab that comes our way (good ones) to make our life better. It will be under 2 years' bond if he goes through, insyaAllah after that he can continue his studies & get the job he wanted. Like I said before, all these are plans. Plans can change. We planned to get him back to school but this came by, insyaAllah it will be ours.

It is near to THE day. We are still being tested & I know we will continue being tested. But I thank Allah for all these tests because that means HE remembers & loves me. Thank you Allah.

I really hope we can pull through. I hope the event will be a successful one.

Dear Allah, please answer our prayers.

Past, Present, Future

Did I mention that I have successfully pass all my exams & now I am MCSE certified? Yes I am! Weee! Hehehe!! Now bonded with company for 1 year. From Aug 2009 to Aug 2010, then off I go to new challenges and environment where I can climb the ladder with the certification. InsyaAllah. There's always pros and cons when you want to land yourself into new job. You need to familiarize yourself to the new environment, new colleagues & of course new jobscope. I can say that my job now not that challenging because I have like alot of free time at work. LOL! (at this point I hope my boss doesn't stumble upon my blog) Oklah, sometimes I have free time sometimes I can be super busy. But if I look at career advancement, I need to have a change in environment.

So yeap, in need of plans. Plans after marriage, to get our own abode, new job, save more money, go overseas, get more serious on photography. And the list goes on. LOL!

I have like 37 days left to be his wife. Time really pass by very fast. From 2 years to 37 days. Haven't feel the excitement yet. Maybe 1 week before, maybe a day before, maybe on the day? Hehe! I've yet to collect my outfit for nikah, only ready on 1st December.

Long hiatus

I have not been updating the blog for 3 months now. I am still surviving. 3 months gone so fast that I don't remember breathing it. But many things have happened though. Basically tests have been put on me & him. It has been tough for us, but alhamdulillah we went through it even though there were so much difficulties adjusting.

It is human nature to ask ourselves, why do we being test this way? Why is it so hard on us? Why do we have such tests and not others? Why is our fate like this and not that? So many why(s), but with 1 answer: Allah loves, remembers us that is why HE gives us these tests. There are no tests that Allah gives beyond our means. For I asked HIM to remind me to keep calm and patience with all that are happening around me, I believe HE hears my prayers and answers them.

We are taking it slow. Slow doesn't mean we cannot reach where we want us to be. Speed doesn't matter as long as we do not stop and give up. I ask myself, "why am I for him and he is for me?" I finally found the answer: He is for me to teach me the meaning of calm and patience, with calm and patience, we can still get there. I am for him to be his pillar of strength, to push him to keep going and not stop, to be emotionally stable so he won't stumble. Tougher job for me in terms of emotionally but insyaAllah with prayers, I can control. I have to start thinking more positive that negative.

(This gonna be long entry, 3 months of not writing, what do you expect?)

I think I am drifting apart from someone, but I still love her the same. She has done so much for me. That aside. Positive Rini, POSITIVE.

Oh yes, preparation to the big day. Alhamdulillah everything has settled except for the small things which need to get done. Bed frame has arrived yesterday. Mom & grandma going to start giving out cards today. I'm meeting cousin Su & future SIL, Waty, to hunt for craft items for the guestbook. I found nice craft things at Art Friend shop yesterday. It just got me awed. I think it's time for me to get that foam beads to have myself a nice beanie chair! My dear elder sister, can sew for me? You're the most amazing elder sister on Earth! Hee! I got awed at Paper Market shop as well, everything are so nice but kinda pricey for such a small item.

I shall stop here, suddenly there is a news which gives me a little headache & scared. Better do solat hajat.

The Butterfly

A man found a cocoon for a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared, he sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through the little hole.

Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and could go no further. Then the man decided to help the butterfly.

He took a pair of scissors and snipped the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily.

Something was strange. The butterfly had a swollen body and shriveled wings. The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which would contract in time.

Neither happened. In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body and deformed wings. It was never able to fly.

What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand, was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the small opening of the cocoon are God's way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life.

If God allowed us to go through all our life without any obtacles, that would cripple us. We would not be as strong as what we could have been.

Not only that, we could never fly.

My fast and Hajj, I will complete,

And keep away from self-conceit.

And give all my wealth to charity.

Wine and wenches I will detest,

Allah's oneness I will attest.

We Angels do what Allah demands,

We cannot go against his commands.

Death is ordained for everyone,

Father, mother, daughter or son.

I'm afraid this moment is your last,

Now be reminded, of your past.

I do understand your fears,

But it is now too late for tears.

You lived in this world, to score and more,

Never did you, your people adore.

Your parents, you did not obey,

Hungry beggers, you turned away.

When the farmers appealed to you,

You did not have mercy, this is true.

Paradise for you? I cannot tell,

Undoubtedly you will dwell in hell.

There is no time for you to repent,

I'll take your soul for which I am sent.

The ending, however, is very sad,

Eventually the man became mad.

With a cry, he jumped out of bed,

And suddenly, he fell down dead.

O Reader! Take moral from here,

You never know, your end may be near.

Puasa pada bulan Rejab

Salaam.

Sama samalah kita ingat mengingati amalan amalan mulia yang penuh berkat ini.

Bulan Rejab adalah bulan Allah swt. Let’s overview ada apa di sebalik bulan Rejab itu. Diriwayatkan bahwa Rasulullah saw telah bersabda, "Ketahuilah bahwa bln Rejab itu adalah bulan ALLAH swt, maka:”

1. Barang siapa yang berpuasa 1 hari dalam bulan ini dengan ikhlas, maka pasti ia mendapat keredhaan yang besar dari ALLAH swt.

2. Dan barang siapa berpuasa pada tanggal 27 Rejab 1428/Isra Mi'raj akan mendapat pahala seperti 5 tahun berpuasa.

3. Barang siapa yang berpuasa 2 hari di bulan Rejab akan mendapat kemuliaan di sisi ALLAH swt.

4. Barang siapa yang berpuasa 3 hari yaitu pada tanggal 1, 2, dan 3 Rejab maka ALLAH swt akan memberikan pahala seperti 900 tahun berpuasa dan menyelamatkannya dari bahaya dunia dan seksa.

5. Barang siapa berpuasa 5 hari dalam bulan ini, insyaallah permintaannya akan dimakbulkan Allah swt..InsyaAllah.

6. Barang siapa berpuasa 7 hari dalam bulan ini, maka ditutupkan 7 pintu neraka Jahanam dan barang siapa berpuasa delapan hari maka akan dibukakan 8 pintu syurga akhirat.

7. Barang siapa berpuasa 15 hari dalam bulan ini, maka ALLAH swt akan mengampuni dosa-dosanya yang telah lalu dan menggantikan kesemua kejahatannya dengan kebaikan, dan barang siapa yang menambah (harihari puasa) maka ALLAH swt akan menambahkan pahalanya." Sabda Rasulullah saw lagi :"Pada malam Mi'raj, saya melihat sebuah sungai yang airnya lebih manis dari madu, lebih sejuk dari air batu dan lebih harum dari minyak wangi, lalu saya bertanya pada Jibril as "Wahai Jibril untuk siapakah sungai ini?" Maka berkata Jibrilb as "Ya Muhammad sungai ini adalah untuk orang yang membaca selawat untuk engkau dibulan Rejab ini."

Dalam sebuah riwayat Tsauban bercerita :"Ketika kami berjalan bersamasama Rasulullah saw ke sebuah kubur, lalu Rasulullah saw berhenti dan beliau menangis dengan amat sedih, kemudian beliau berdoa kepada ALLAH swt. Lalu saya bertanya kepada beliau "Ya Rasulullah, mengapakah engkau menangis?" Lalu beliau bersabda "Wahai Tsauban, mereka itu sedang diseksa dalam kuburnya dan saya berdoa kepada ALLAH swt, lalu ALLAH swt meringankan atas mereka."

Sabda beliau lagi "Wahai Tsauban, kalaulah sekiranya mereka ini mahu berpuasa satu hari dan beribadah satu malam saja di bulan Rejab nescaya mereka tidak akan disiksa di dalam kubur." Tsauban bertanya "Ya Rasulullah, apakah hanya berpuasa satu hari dan beribadah satu malam dalam bulan Rejab sudah dapat mengelakkan dari seksa kubur?"

Sabda beliau "Wahai Tsauban, demi ALLAH Zat yang telah mengutus saya sebagai nabi, tiada seorang muslim lelaki dan perempuan yang berpuasa satu hari dan mengerjakan solat malam sekali dalam bulan Rejab dengan niat karena ALLAH swt, kecuali ALLAH swt mencatatkan baginya seperti berpuasa satu tahun dan mengerjakan solat malam satu tahun."

Celebrated his 28th. He is 28 yet look like 18. An apek teksi thought he's still in Secondary School =.="!!!

His titanium ring has arrived! All the way from USA lah sehh. Singapore doesn't have nice rings = guys cannot wear white gold = must buy platinum = super expensive in Singapore = alternative? buy titatium online. Hurhur!

I still haven't decide what I want for my dulangs, except for the 4kg Shahrukh's book and Tiger Eyes perfume for women by SRK. Bought kain(s) but no time to go and tailor them. He lah! Work work work, no time to even go anywhere. I had to recce alone or with friends or with girl-cousin. Better than nothing, right? Okay, I actually cannot believe I only have like 6 months more to become his wife, insyaAllah.

No plans for honeymoon because I is gatal wants to go India for SRK Convention next year February. Asked him, he allowed but with a hati yang berat. But I have my friend who has gone to India, so he's ok. For now, I just save up as much as I can for the trip, insyaAllah I will go. If I decided not to go, at least I have extra kachings for me, no? Hee! I is so going to the Natas Fair this August to see if there is any good free & easy package. Maybe, just maybe we go for a near2 honeymoon lah. Hurhur!

The only things left for his dulangs are sejadah, Al-Quran & tasbih. I want to get for him the kayu koka tasbih. My BIL-to-be still haven't check for me the price. Chis! Nvm, shall pester him when he comes back from Langkawi. Heh!

Tatacara makan & minum:

>> * Sebelum tidur, maafkan semua orang tak kira siapa ~ InsyaAllah, Allah lipat gandakan rezeki.

> > * Sebelum tidur, berdoa, depends on apa yg kita hendak ~ sepanjang tidur, otak akan generatekan all of our wish & InsyaAllah, kita akan work towards it (ada semangat) di keesokan harinya.

> > * Makan buah sebelum breakfast, lunch & dinner ~ ikut Sunnah & dapat pahala & also boleh rujuk kpd pakar pemakanan, vit C dari buah2an yg dimakan selepas breakfast, lunch & dinner yang akan diperolehi adalah approaching 0%.

> > * Jangan minum air semasa sedang makan (breakfast, lunch & dinner). Minum air selepas 15-30 minit selesai makan. Untuk minum, bagi teguk yg pertama sahaja, biarkan air dlm mulut about 10s then baru telan. Teguk kedua & seterusnya boleh minum terus ~ sbb air liur ada enzyme yg boleh membunuh kuman dlm pankreas, perut, & so on yg akan dibawa oleh air tegukan pertama.

> > * Seelok2nya makan malam sblm maghrib ~ ikut sunnah (Rasullullah makan sblm maghrib kecuali bulan Ramadhan saja ie masa maghrib), sbb, bagi yg tgh study (or anak2), otak akan berfungsi excellently (senang absorb ilmu) around 2 hrs slps makan so, if makan at 8:30pm, around 10:30pm baru start study and most probably hanya boleh bertahan hingga jam 12 tgh malam saja, jadi, tak byk yg boleh dipelajari berbanding kalau makan pukul 6:30 (org Cina take dinner around this hour). Juga, kita tak tidur dlm kekenyangan (yg mana boleh menghindar dari membuat sembahyang malam)

Tatacara di bilik air:

> > * Selepas buang air kecil, berdehem 3x (teran sikit) ~ boleh elak drpd dapat batu karang.

> > * Semasa buang air besar, mengiring sedikit ke kiri ~ ikut sunnah sbb bila mengiring ke kiri, perut akan tekan bladder and senang buang air besar.

Tatacara didik anak:

> > * Antara tips untuk dpt anak bijak/genius, ajar anak (atau baby) tidur mengiring ke kanan ~ sbb jantung (yg terletak sblh kiri) akan lebih "lapang"/"lega" dan mudah berdegup (perjalanan darah okay) and otak anak akan develop excellently.

> > * Bagi anak2 yg dah azalinya active or hyper-active, kurang (or jgn) pakaikan baju warna orange ~ sbb warna ini boleh merangsang secara actifnya tindak tanduk anak (ie. akan lebih nakal), sentiasa bersemangat waja & exuberant.

Tatacara didik diri sendiri:

> > * Amalkan apa2 yg baik (juga amalan2 baru) selama 21+ plus hari berturut2 ~ Rasullullah (saw) bersabda, sst amalan yg diamalkan sekitar 21-30 hari, continuously, akan menjadi tabiat and kalau tak, ilmu itu akan mati.

> > * Buang segala rasa hasad dengki, dendam & lain2 yg -ve ~ emosi2 ni akan membenarkan otak release excessive adrenaline, cortisone & toxine yg mana boleh membawa kpd bbrp penyakit cepat letih, wajah cepat nampak tua (tua sblm waktunya), selalu sakit perut & etc

Ada 3 kategori manusia :-
1) BERJAYA : Hari ini lebih baik daripada semalam
2) TERPEDAYA : Hari ini sama seperti semalam
3) CELAKA : Hari ini lebih teruk daripada semalam

So, it's good if we can remind each other because in Rasulullah's last sermon, baginda pun did mention that all those who listen to him (on that day) shall pass on his words to others, and those to others again; and may the last ones understand his words better that those who listen to him directly...

Yang baik datang dari Allah & yg kurang itu is from my weaknesses. Do impart this knowledge & you'll lose nothing.

Wedding Checklist 1

Bought platinum ring for him online. The sizing set will reach us soon in about 3-5 days time, which then the ring itself will reach us in about 10-14 days time. He engraved "izreeny", macam paham jer!

Will be getting him his shoes, shaver set & toiletries this month. I'll be getting my ring this month as well. I think I will ask my sis & mom to accompany me choose & buy. He will be busy lah, working. Kejer keras sangat sampai takder masa nak jumpe. GSS started, not fully. Shall make use of the sale to buy hantarans for kawin. Budget beb!

Next IT show will be in June, shall grab this chance to buy my Canon DSLR EOS450D, if the price is affordable lah. Hehehehehe!!

12.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor
The 12.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor gives you plenty of detail for poster-size prints and extra flexibility when cropping. Sensitive in low light and virtually noise-free, Canon’s CMOS sensors are also remarkably power-efficient.

3.5 fps shooting
The EOS 450D captures up to 3.5 frames per second for a continuous burst of up to 53 large JPEG images (6 in RAW).

9-point wide-area AF
The 9 AF points are spread out across the frame to better accommodate off-centre subjects. The central AF point is a high sensitivity cross type sensor for quick, accurate focusing with f/2.8 and faster lenses.

EOS Integrated Cleaning System
Canon’s built-in dust prevention system uses three methods to keep images blemish-free. (1) Specialised materials reduce dust generation within the camera. (2) A Self-Cleaning Sensor Unit shakes dust from the sensor each time the camera is turned on or off. (3) Stubborn dust spots are mapped for easy removal in Digital Photo Professional.

3.0” LCD with Live View mode
The bright 3.0” LCD provides sharp definition for checking focus and composition, with 10x magnification for finer details. When shooting from awkward positions, Live View mode gives you the option of framing the image from the LCD, and a choice of focussing modes.

DIGIC III processor

A date at VivoCity

The girl-cousin was on off yesterday, went to Vivo by public (MRT). We are still thinking what to get for Fathers' Day. Well that will be in June. The one in May, Chip Kudut's elder brother getting married, we still have no bloody idea what to get for the newly weds *scratch head. We have like 2 more weeks to think and buy.

Okay, back to my date with girl-cousin at Vivo (which was the purpose, hence the title), we camwhored like mad women, like monkeys terlepas from Sentosa lor. Will upload the photos soon when we have the time. We were like kids when we went into our favourite toy store, Canon Digital Photography. I want to get my hands on the Entry Level Canon EOS 450D! Maybe getting it as one of my dulang hantarans. Heh! So then, we were home by Maghrib. Waited till 9am to watch AF7 online (thanks to crystle1987). Hafiz won! Wooooohhhooooo~!! I just felt that Akim should be 2nd instead of Aril. Akim is hot stuff lah ok! Love him when he sung "I'm yours" last week (Zura is soooo all over him noww).

I'm still wide awake, waiting for Chip Kudut to reach home.

Yeap! I work only 2 days this week lor. Shiok or what eh?! But when I came back, I'm overwhelmed by tonnes of emails, roughly about 90 emails in 3 days. Crazy!

So, I got 1 more paper left to sit to get the MCSA title. 3 more modules to go with 3 exam papers to get MCSE title. Big struggle and guggle between work and school. I'm glad I took the Mustika Ratu jamu, it does help boosting my energy.
